"The peer-to-peer learning is priceless. I simply cannot put enough value on meeting with peers [and] establishing relationships based on philanthropy."
The First-Year program is just the beginning of the TPW West experience. Upon graduation, participants become members of the TPW West Alumni Network, an invaluable opportunity for intellectual exchange with peers and continuing learning about philanthropy.
Alumni participate in seminars that address areas of interest. Alumni also meet with practitioners with deep expertise in using philanthropic tools such as board involvement, due diligence, and impact investing. The Alumni Network hosts funding and learning collaborative as well as international and domestic trips. In 2010, the alumni traveled to Liberia and Ghana to focus on building a civil society, womens empowerment, and food security.
Alumni share and exchange updates on their work and have the opportunity to hear from experts on key new developments in the field. Many alumni elect to engage in co-funding opportunities with their peers in areas of common interest, such as an initiative to support quality education in Africa.
