Objectives of the Program

The program provides, through active, hands-on sessions and individually tailored programming, an in-depth and systematic approach to developing strategies for maximizing effective giving. It addresses both traditional and emerging models of philanthropy and assists participants in assessing the most effective strategies for meeting their philanthropic goals. Throughout the sessions, participants explore difficult issues commonly faced by funders: how does one retain his or her humanity, humility, integrity, and sense of humor when barraged by daily requests for funds; how does one form funding collaboratives that maximize outcomes; and how does one create relationships with other funders, innovators, and grassroots leaders in ways that are constructive, respectful and effective? TPW West provides a collegial and confidential forum for such discussions.
