GLEN GALAICH
Executive Director
Mr. Galaich began his career in strategic philanthropy in 2001 as the Director of Development and Donor Relations for the Global Philanthropy Forum. He served on the team responsible for launching the first and second Conferences on Borderless Giving. Both conferences were attended by hundreds of leaders in philanthropy, nongovernmental organizations, and international institutions. In 2004, he joined The Philanthropy Workshop West to develop and launch an alumni program for over forty graduates of the nationally recognized program. Mr. Galaich also served at Human Rights Watch as the Deputy Director for North America where he had strategic oversight of the North American region of the Human Rights Watch Council, a network of supporters and opinion leaders committed to raising money for, and awareness of, human rights in five major cities. Mr. Galaich also had a brief career in AM talk radio as the founding Political Director of Working Assets Broadcasting, a national internet radio network, based in Boulder, Colorado, committed to social change media. Mr. Galaich holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Political Science, and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California at San Diego. He has written and published on the role of ethnicity in the formation of political parties, human rights, and in the use of political violence and repression in sub-Saharan Africa.

TINA JOH
Program Director
Ms. Joh has been working in the philanthropic field for fifteen years, most recently at the management consulting firm Blueprint Research + Design (acquired by Arabella Advisors in 2011) where she conducted evaluation and program strategy for foundations and delighted in helping clients make changes for the better. She has consulted foundations with budgets in the multi millions to single shop family foundations on various topics including social entrepreneurism, giving circles, leadership networks, how foundations measure and understand their community impact, and cultural competency in program evaluation. Ms. Joh also researched funding trends for the philanthropic associations Women’s Funding Network and Minnesota Council on Foundations, where she was also responsible for public education programming such as careers in philanthropy seminars and grantseeking for beginners’ workshops. Tina began her career raising money for neighborhood development, legal rights, and affordable housing non-profits. She has an M.A. in public affairs from the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota, and a B.A. from Indiana University.

Ms. Albert joined the TPW West team in 2010. She comes to the organization with a significant history of work in the non-profit sector. Prior to joining The Philanthropy Workshop West, she was the Manager of the California Committee North for Human Rights Watch, where she worked closely with the philanthropic community on fundraising, advocacy and outreach initiatives for the organization in the Bay Area and Silicon Valley. She was part of a dynamic team that in spite of a difficult economic climate, broke the million dollar fundraising mark for the first time in the region for their annual dinner. Prior to joining Human Rights Watch in 2007, she worked for several years in non-profit arts. She primarily worked as the Program and Administrative Manager for The Flaherty/International Film Seminars in New York, where among other things, she worked to organize and execute their annual documentary film festival. She also worked for New York Women in Film and Television, IFP, and the New York Film and Video Coalition. She has a B.A. in Sociology/Media Studies from Pitzer College and a Masters degree in Media Studies from The New School, where she focused on collective memory and the power of film to create social change.
Program Manager
Ms. Totah joined The Philanthropy Workshop West in December 2010, bringing with her a diverse background that includes work in education, administration and philanthropy. She began her career as a pre-school teacher, later taking on administrative roles for various businesses, including real estate marketing, graphic design and a manufacturing company. Ms. Totah has been a life-long member of and volunteer with numerous nonprofit organizations. In particular, Ms. Totah has a tremendous passion for her work with Be The Match, the National Marrow Donor Program. She has helped raise over $25,000 for the organization and has planned and overseen dozens of marrow drives in the United States and abroad. She works as a liaison between Be The Match and ethnically diverse groups, focusing on increasing participation of underrepresented ethnic communities in the national registry. Moreover, Ms. Totah works with international aid organizations that seek to support the rights, well-being and sustainability of communities worldwide. She brings to TPW West more than 15 years of experience in community involvement and awareness campaigns dedicated to promoting change locally and internationally. Ms. Totah holds a B.A. in Child and Adolescent Development from San Francisco State University’s Edelman Institute and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from San Francisco State University’s College of Extended Learning.
